Our village ~ Arkasa

Arkasa is arguably one of the most populated villages of Karpathos Island. It is located about 15 kilometers from the capital, Pigadia, and 11 kilometers from the airport. It is ideal for visitors who wish to combine sea and mountain views, as the village is built amphitheatrically, and the sunsets are breathtaking due to its western location and unique landscape. The town features several shops, restaurants and bars, and some services, such as a gas station, ATM, pharmacy and supermarkets.

Incognito is located within walking distance from Saint Nicolas Beach. It has golden sand and emerald waters, and usually has some waves! It is semi-organized with umbrellas for rent, a tavern, beach-bar, and parking-lot. If you are interested in water activities, you will also find a surfing club upon request.

Finiki is a small fish town about 1,5 kilometers from Arkasa’s main square. This small settlement was the port of the area in previous centuries, and now it is a calm fishing village with fish taverns and picturesque views. There you will find an organized calm beach, ideal for families with children.

Arkasa has several timeless sights and attractions that have withstood the modernization of the village. Namely, the Byzantine temple, Church of Agia Sophia, dates from the 5th century and is known for its longstanding mosaic floor, and Greek Orthodox ancient icons. Another historical sight worth visiting is the Paleokastro hill, where ruins of walls and columns and the old castle are located. The Paleokastro hill also makes a great hiking journey to experience panoramic views of the west coast. Another important sight in Arkasa is the Church of Ypapanti, located in the center of the town. It features whitewashed walls and a beautiful bell tower.

The Capital ~ Pigadia

It offers several sights and attractions for its visitors, including the Town Hall, built by Italians during the occupation between 1926-1936. Directly next to the Town Hall, is the small museum of Pigadia.

Traditional ~ Olympos

Olympos is one of the twelve villages on the island, where time seems to has stopped. It is set high in the mountains of Karpathos, especially known for its traditional standing. There, you will meet women who dress in the traditional Karpathian attire, which is unique to this village, passed down from their ancestors. They take their traditions very seriously which brings an incredibly authentic feel to the town. You may eat at small family taverns, walk through the colorful streets of Olympos and embrace the true Greek village life. You will definitely need to wear your sneakers and even bring a light jacket as it gets cold this high up! Some visitors combine their trip to Olympos with a visit to Diafani village, known for its small port and local taverns. From there, you may choose to take a boat to Saria Island to spend the day peacefully, yet perfectly!
